Michael Cho

Dr. Michael Hyosang Cho is a physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). He is also an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.
He received his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He then completed a residency in internal medicine and a chief residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in pulmonary disease at BWH. He is board certified in critical care medicine, internal medicine and pulmonary disease.
Dr. Cho’s clinical research investigates the risk factors and heterogeneity of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), specifically focusing on the role of genetics in susceptibility to cigarette smoking. He has led studies on both common variants and novel phenotypes of COPD, during which he has identified chromosome and phenotype variants through machine learning and DNA sequencing. Dr. Cho has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and has received funding from the National Institutes of Health.
